You know what’s overrated?
Conferences are overrated.
They’re often hyped up to unachievable levels, then the sessions are a bit of a letdown. Hell, everyone knows the best part of a conference isn’t the conference at all, but the post-conference networking elbow rubbing at the hotel bar. Might as well cancel the whole thing all together and just organize a happy hour!
It’s especially tough for conference sponsors. Sponsorships are expensive, and often don’t deliver on their promises. Companies want to get their products in front of people, but are relegated to exhibitor halls which many people avoid to save themselves from endless sales pitches. It’s like walking into a giant spam folder.
I know I’m not the only person who feels this way. Thankfully, there are some creative souls out there who want to change conferences and make them something more than a glorified, overpriced happy hour.
The #DonorLove Rendezvous
Remember Rory and Maeve? I sing their praises quite frequently, but for good reason. They’re incredibly passionate and talented fundraisers making a big splash in the development world.
Rory and Maeve have set out on an ambitious mission: to host a fundraising conference that doesn’t feel like a traditional conference at all.
A conference where attendees are more than just...well, attendees. Rather, they’re active participants in the conference. They’re sent material prior to the conference to go over and prepare so that they walk in informed and ready to take part in the action. The conference is intentionally small, to foster a more collaborative feel. Even the space at Artscape Wychwood Barns promises to shed the feel of a cold hotel conference room.
It's all going down May 11th of 2016 at the #DonorLove Rendezvous!
We're beyond thrilled to be sponsoring this conference, because I know it will be a huge success and experience growth in the future.
