The summer of 2013 gave the team another energy boost when we got news that WeDidit was nominated for Startup of the Year by the Wall Street Journal. The nomination came along side 23 other startups and included participation in WSJ's documentary series, as it tracked our progress and proclaimed 1 of the 24 as Wall Street Journal's Startup of the Year. Of course, we were stoked and looking forward to gaining valuable mentorship and connections from a fleet of successful entrepreneurs and investors assembled by WSJ.
We especially benefited from mentorship by Jean Case, CEO of the Case Foundation and Nancy Lublin, CEO of DoSomething.org. They both challenged us to think about how to make WeDidIt a lasting brand in the nonprofit industry. But we also were inspired by the advice and content of the other great mentors, including Will.i.am, Steve Case (AOL), Vivek Wadhwa, Ray Kurzweil, Lynn Tilton and MC Hammer. Thank you WSJ for the opportunity.
